For this scenarios, I usualy use an 8.4(2) ASA setup – which, by the way should run only in QEMU 0.11.0 which in turn can’t be started in GNS 1.4.x, only in previous suite 1.3.x!!! So, before we start we need to obtain somewhat the ASAv image.
It’s worth noting that the ASAv have some limitations compared to classical ASA, in particular you wouldn’t be able to build firewall clusters (failover or A/A), test multiple context mode feature or play with Etherchannel.
